Over the years I’ve travelled with a wide range of airlines, hotels and cruise lines, learning that the best experience is rarely the most expensive one. By combining careful planning, loyalty programmes, reward points and a willingness to compare the options, it’s often possible to enjoy a significantly better journey for little extra cost—or sometimes for less.
That approach became what I now call Value Engineering for Travel.
Rather than chasing luxury for its own sake or simply booking the cheapest option available, I look at the complete travel experience. Flight times, airport convenience, baggage allowances, onboard comfort, hotel location, loyalty benefits and overall cost all play a part in determining what represents proper value.
