QM2 on a budget

Last year I spotted a really great looking QM2 transatlantic crossing , we booked it and 3 weeks later we were on the iconic Queen Mary 2 crossing the Atlantic. Ive been watching fares ever since and booked to go again in October 2026- this time USA-UK. It will be an alternative to flying home from USA after visiting family. Something we will be doing every year now.

So I made a video showing how. It’s a brief look at accommodation so you can decide what you want and what fits your budget. I’ll explain the three most expensive mistakes you can make

1. Choosing an expensive accommodation (Particularly avoid Britannia CLUB balconies) because everyone is on the same ship at the end of the day so 995% of the experience you can still have in the cheapest stateroom
2. Booking too Early – contrary to the opinions of some well known You Tube cruise channels. Booking early is THE MOST EXPENSIVE MISTAKE of all.
3. Packages like the alcoholic beverage packages and Wi-Fi packages almost invariably cost more than paying onboard. Drinks packages don’t break even until you consume 42 cocktails (average of 6 per day) and Wifi can be had in 4 or 5 24h blocks for less than the 7 day package options.

I also reveal something I noticed that I haven’t seen mentioned before. I really hope it doesn’t “kill the trick” (FT members will know what I mean. But towards the end I reveal something that can shave £1-200 of fares that have already reached some pretty low levels.

Booking with my cruise agency of choice “Vacations to Go” will access this automatically
