Mallorca Day 2

Day 2

We woke reasonably early (before 9) the next morning so we made it down to breakfast. We had paid for breakfast, though no-one ever questioned us or seated us in any of the three days we were there. It’s a fairly large buffet on the ground floor and always had lots of diners despite being there at different times each morning.

Inexplicably there are no coffee or tea making facilities here, there’s a second area at the other end of the dining area, which took quite a while to find. We ate our fill, and some, then decided to head out. The hotel is right on the edge of the marina and a road curves round the edge with a promenade between it and the marina.

This was our exploring day and we walked round the edge of the marina all the way to the Cathedral which we could see across the bay from our balcony. It was a decently long walk and we needed a drink at a cafe just across from it when we arrived. It was surprisingly quite reasonably priced considering the location. (€6.50 for a beer and a coffee)

We then visited the cathedral which wasn’t as obvious to get into despite towering us. Theres an entrance at the front but visitors who aren’t part of an organised group seem get in round the back.
If you like old and magnificent church buildings you’ll love it.

Just a couple of photos of this but I could have put in dozens, it was an interesting and quite cool place to spend an hour. Out through the gift shop and a poke around the surrounding area shops which were much more sensibly priced.

We walked back a rather long way round and predictably needed an afternoon nap, as usual. We had decided that we were going to go to an Indian restaurant that evening. Neither of us are keen on seafood and we expected it to be familiar to us Brits. It didn’t disappoint.

Mojitos were consumed on the way back to the hotel in what was a pretty dodgy looking Shisha bar , neither of us smoke but it wasn’t at all “smoky” €5 Mojitos, can’t complain.

Unsurprisingly it wasn’t that easy to get up the next day. So only one went to breakfast, churros and thick hot chocolate. I have a suspicion that one churro has about as many calories as a pint of beer. So I was restrained and only managed 3 or 4.
